Information we collect

We collect information needed to operate the platform, facilitate rentals and maintain a trusted marketplace.

Account and profile information

Identity verification

To verify users, we collect identity information that may include:

  • A selfie or identity-match information

Identity information may be collected, stored or processed through third-party providers such as Stripe.

Identification documents and selfies are not displayed or shared with other users. Other users may see only that an account has completed identity verification.

Super Neighbor and its authorized providers may access or use identity information as needed for verification, fraud prevention, security, legal compliance and responding to lawful requests.

Identity verification does not guarantee a user's identity, conduct, ownership or trustworthiness.

Listings and rentals

This may include:

  • Listing descriptions, photos, prices and availability
  • Rental requests, dates and transaction details
  • Included accessories
  • Exchange and return confirmations
  • Reviews and ratings
  • Messages exchanged through the platform
  • Photos, videos and supporting evidence

When users upload photos, videos or other evidence through the platform, we may collect:

  • The uploaded content
  • The associated rental and user
  • The upload date and time
  • Information submitted with a report or claim

An upload timestamp records when content was submitted to the platform. It does not necessarily establish when or where the content was originally created.

Payments and payouts

Payments and payouts are processed by third-party payment providers such as Stripe.

Super Neighbor does not store complete payment-card numbers. We may receive and retain limited payment information, including:

  • Card brand and last four digits
  • Payment and pre-authorization status
  • Transaction amounts and dates
  • Rental and payment references
  • Refund, charge, dispute and payout information

Payment providers may collect additional identity, banking and payment information under their own privacy policies.

Support, claims and safety reports

We may collect:

  • Support requests and communications
  • Photos, videos, receipts and proof of ownership or value
  • Descriptions of damage, loss, theft, non-return or safety concerns
  • Police-report information when required
  • Claim decisions and related account actions

Technical and usage information

  • Pages and platform features used

  • Approximate screen-size category

We do not request precise device location unless a feature clearly asks for it and the user provides permission.

Other users

Information may be shared with lenders or renters as needed to create listings, arrange rentals, communicate, complete exchanges and resolve reported issues.

Public profiles, listings, reviews and ratings may be visible to other users or visitors as indicated on the platform.

Government-issued identification and verification selfies are not displayed or shared with other users. Other users may see only that an account has completed identity verification.

Service providers

We use service providers for functions such as:

  • Payments and payouts
  • Identity verification
  • Hosting and data storage
  • Authentication and account access
  • Email, SMS and platform communications
  • Analytics, performance monitoring and advertising measurement
  • Fraud prevention and security
  • Customer support

Service providers may process information only as needed to provide their services, subject to their contractual and legal obligations.

Super Neighbor is based in Canada.

Personal information may be stored or processed by service providers operating in Canada, the United States or other jurisdictions. Information processed outside Canada may be subject to the laws and lawful access requirements of those jurisdictions.

We take reasonable steps to select service providers that appropriately protect personal information.

Data retention

We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary to:

  • Complete rentals, payments, payouts and claims

Some information may be retained after account closure where necessary for these purposes. When information is no longer required, we delete, anonymize or securely dispose of it as appropriate.

No online service or storage system can guarantee complete security. Users are responsible for protecting their passwords and account access.

Super Neighbor is intended for users who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly permit users under 18 to create accounts or complete rentals.

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the platform, legal requirements or our practices.

We will make the revised policy available on the platform and update the "Last updated" date. We will provide additional notice or request consent before material changes where required.
