Make Extra Money in Toronto With Things You Already Own
One way to earn extra money is to put things you already own to use. Tools, equipment, and gear that sit unused part of the time can be offered to people nearby who only need them for a few days.
One way to try for extra money
People look for many ways to earn a bit more. On Super Neighbor, one of them is to rent out an item you already own, by the day, to someone in Toronto or the GTA who needs it for a short time.
This is not a list of side hustles, and it is not passive income. A rental only happens when someone requests your item and you accept. No rental or income is guaranteed.
Look around your home first
A few kinds of things people already own. These are examples of what can be listed, not items currently available.
Tools and equipment
A drill, a saw, or a ladder that is not in use every week.
Garden and outdoor gear
Seasonal equipment that otherwise waits in a garage or a closet.
Event equipment
Tables, a canopy, or lighting someone else may need for one gathering.
Cameras and audio
A camera, a tripod, or a speaker between your own uses.
Why this can fit
It suits someone who already owns a useful item and wants to choose when it goes out.
You start with what you own
You list an item you already have. You do not need to buy stock or offer a service.
You choose the terms
You set the price, the dates, and whether the handover is pickup, delivery, or both.
You choose the requests
Each request can be accepted or declined. The item comes back to you when the rental ends.
A steady paycheck is a different decision. An item brings money only when someone rents it. No rental or income is guaranteed.
How it works on Super Neighbor
From an item at home to a handover with someone nearby.
List an item you own
Add photos, your price, and the dates it is available. Creating a listing is free.
It is reviewed first
A new listing is reviewed before it appears, and it stays unpublished until lender verification is complete.
You accept, then hand it over
Renters nearby send a request. They pay through Super Neighbor only after you accept, then you agree on pickup or delivery.
Listing is free. A 10% lender fee applies when a rental is confirmed. How lending on Super Neighbor works.
Control and trust
The choices that stay with you, and what already happens around a rental.
You choose the price
The daily price is set on your listing.
You choose the dates
Block dates when the item is not available, and pause the listing when you do not want new requests.
You accept or decline
Every request is yours to accept or decline.
Pickup, delivery, or both
A listing can offer pickup, delivery, or both. Super Neighbor does not deliver the item. You and the renter arrange the handover.
Renters verify first
A renter verifies their identity and phone number before they can send a request.
Payment goes through the platform
After you accept, the renter pays through Super Neighbor. Payments are processed by a third-party payment provider.
A security hold on the renter's card
You set a temporary authorization before handover, between CAD $100 and CAD $400. It is not a charge and not part of your earnings. It is released if the item is returned as agreed.
Reviewed before it is public
New listings are reviewed by Super Neighbor before they appear in the marketplace.
